Lightning Force Game #6 In NHL Stanley Cup Final

NHL Stanley Cup action returns Sunday as the Avs hope to claim their third cup in team history.

The two-time defending champion Tampa Bay Lightning scored one goal in each period Friday night in Denver to defeat the Colorado Avalanche and force a Game 6 at Amalie Arena in Tampa this Sunday.

With the 3-2 victory of Colorado, the Lightning have kept their three-peat hopes alive for at least one more game while delaying a potential +475 futures payday for sports bettors who wagered on the Avs to win the Stanley Cup at the beginning of this season.

If Tampa Bay is able to come back from a 3-1 series deficit to claim their third straight NHL Stanley Cup, they will become only the second U.S. National Hockey League team in history to do so (see: New York Islanders, 1980-1983).

But in order to achieve such a feat, the Lightning will be forced to win Sunday’s Game #6 in Tampa, then out-duel the Avs in a return to Ball Arena in Denver on Tuesday for Game #7.

The Avalanche, on the other hand, need only one win (either Sunday or Tuesday) to become the 2021-2022 NHL Stanley Cup champions.

The Avalanche vs. Lightning Game #6 odds posted by Action Network this weekend show Colorado as a slight favorite to win the contest in Tampa, while giving up 1.5 goals in a spread bet with an over/under line total of six goals.

Unseeded College Baseball Teams Compete For 2022 MCWS National Title

Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska, will be the site for the 2022 Men’s College World Series final between the Oklahoma Sooners (Big 12) and Ole Miss Rebels (SEC).

First pitch in Game #1 of the best-of-three final series is set for Saturday night in Omaha, while Game #2 is scheduled to begin Sunday afternoon at 2:00PM local time (Central). If a Game #3 is necessary, it will be played Monday night.

Both teams were unseeded entering the college baseball postseason.

After winning the Big 12 championship, Oklahoma (45-22) won the Gainesville regional in Florida against the #4 Gators – then took two out of three against #13 Virginia Tech in Blacksburg to make it to Omaha.

The Ole Miss Rebels (40-23) began their 2022 college baseball postseason with a first round loss against Vanderbilt in the SEC Tournament. Since then, the Rebels have won eight of their last nine games, including victories in the Coral Gables regional against #6 Miami and a 2-0 sweep of #10 Southern Mississippi in the Hattiesburg super regional.

Colorado Rockies Need Some Help Before All-Star Break

The Colorado Rockies (31-41) defeated the Minnesota Twins by a score of 1-0 Friday night behind a three-hit pitching performance from German Marquez, who went 7 and two-thirds innings while allowing no runs.

On Saturday night, the Rockies had a chance to extend their winning streak to two games while on the road at Target Field. However, they were shut out 6-0 for their forty-first loss of the 2022 MLB regular season. The Rockies are in last place within the National League West division despite the Saturday win..

On Sunday, Colorado will play the rubber match against the Twins to see if Colorado can come out on top in the series.

The Rockies will come back home to Coors Field on Monday and will face both the Dodgers and Diamondbacks this coming week. Colorado will then travel to Dodger Stadium next week, and will then be hosted by Arizona at Chase Field in Phoenix.

In all, the Rockies will play 13 straight games against their NL West rivals – and will need to capitalize on that opportunity in order to regain their competitiveness within the division.
