Colorado Avalanche Will Compete For Third NHL Stanley Cup In Team History

Avs breeze through Western Conference Finals with 4-game sweep of Edmonton Oilers.

For the third time in team history, the Colorado Avalanche will play for an NHL Stanley Cup.

The Avs defeated Edmonton 6-5 in overtime Monday night to secure their sweep of the Oilers, which comes off a 4-2 postseason series win against the St. Louis Blues and a first round 4-0 sweep of the Nashville Predators.

With roughly one week of rest for the second time in the 2022 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, Colorado now awaits the Eastern Conference Finals winner Tampa Bay Lightning. The Lightning, who won the series against the New York Rangers 4-2 after knocking off the Presidents’ Cup trophy winning Florida Panthers earlier in the postseason.

The Avs will enjoy home ice advantage during the 2022 NHL Stanley Cup Finals – hosting Games #1, #2, and #5, #7, if necessary.

Colorado has won both its appearances in the Stanley Cup: once in 1995 during the team’s inaugural season and again in 2001 against New Jersey.

Futures and proposition bets are already available at online Colorado sportsbooks, with the Avs guaranteed to be favored against either team they eventually face for the 2022 NHL Stanley Cup.

Colorado Rockies’ Woes Continue

Although the Rockies won a best-of-three home series against the San Francisco Giants earlier this month, the team remains at the very bottom of the National League West division with a record of 25 wins and 33 losses.

Following approximately one-third of the 2022 MLB regular season, Colorado is already a dozen games behind the division-leading Los Angeles Dodgers

Absent a strong rally in June and July, Colorado will enter the All Star break as a significant underdog to make the postseason.

There are plenty of unseeded teams still in contention for a national championship, including Notre Dame, Connecticut, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Ole Miss.

The Oklahoma Lady Sooners completed their epic college softball season Thursday night with a convincing second straight victory over the unseeded Texas Lady Longhorns. The championship represents the Lady Sooners’ sixth national title since the Women’s CWS began in 1982.
